I am Carl Pollard, a Director of Photography with 16 years experience as a Director of Photography and over 25 years experience in the Camera Department working in Feature Films, Television, Commercials and Music Videos.

Story and performances drives eveything I do as a DOP. It's incredibly rewarding to work closely with a director to find ways to visualise and enhance the story telling elements of a script, and to search for and set the overall tone and atmosphere for the audience.

 I love the collaborative nature of the role, combining creatively with other departments is essential in this, to help design and build together, a believable world for the writers characters. And making it all worthwhile is the moment when we step on to a set full of talented actors, that's when everything comes alive. Capturing and framing their incredible performances inspires me to search for the emotional qualities they bring to each project and then to ultimately reflect them within the images we create. That is a real privilege.
